Organizational context: 

Responsible for the development and execution of consumable and spare part support services, ways of working, tooling/applications, compliance, sales, training and alignment of processes in the Regions to evaluate and elevate the overall performance of our Lely Center partners.  The ‘what and when’ is led by the Regional Development Manager within the region.   Spends 80% of time in multi-disciplinary regional team, which includes Area Sales Managers, Regional Service, Farm Management, and Marketing specialists.  Region: Eastern Canada/Quebec. Preferred language: English and French.

Summary:

The Milk Quality Specialist position is responsible for providing primary field product support to our Lely Centers, managing Aftermarket Sales and Growth within respective territory and assisting in development of new products for the Aftermarket Segment of the business.  This position will focus on advising, training, and developing Lely Center team members targeting milk quality, milking performance, cow care, and machine care in assigned territory.  This position is field-based and requires travel approximately 40-50% of the year domestic and/or international via car or plane.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Training and support for Lely Centers – Provide comprehensive training and support for Lely Centers on the use of Lely products and best management practices, facilitating the highest level of milk quality and milking technology performance on Lely dairy farms.
  • Collaboration and Evaluation of Robot Farms – Essential collaboration with Lely Centers to evaluate robot milking systems, analysis of barn conditions, herd data, milking practices conducted to create actionable plans aligned with producer’s goals.
  • Sales targets - Achieve and/or exceed territory aftermarket sales goals set by the MQS Manager.
  • Education and networking in the industry – Use the position to emphasize the importance of educating industry partners about effective practices, as well as networking with academic institutions, while managing training sessions and events for stakeholders.
  • Support – extends across the full Lely portfolio, including Milking and Digital Services.
  • Regular progress reports – on Lely Centers and robotic farms provided to Lely North America.
  • Collaboration – with Manager, Regional Development Manager, Marketing specialists, Regional Teams and Business Teams to help tailor content for regional milk quality and aftermarket sales strategies.

Education and/or Experience:

Bachelor's Degree in Ag Business, Dairy Science, Animal Science, or Business Management. Sales and/or field support experience of 5 years and/or a combination of relevant education and experience required.  Experience in dairy products for herd health, milk production, milking equipment and/or consumables. 

 

Computer Skills:

  • PC-Networking
  • Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, PowerPoint etc.
  • Cloud based data analytic programs like Tableau.

  • Possess strong verbal and written communication skills, effectively adapting style to suit various audiences, whether in-person or via webinars.
  • Bilingual: English and French
  • Focus-oriented approach enhancing planning, prioritization, and time management.
  • Excels in collaboration, providing excellent customer support and building trusting relationships with a diverse range of dairy professionals.
  • Knowledgeable in milk quality and cow udder health management in dairy farm operations and comfortable working with large herd management approaches. Strong dairy husbandry skills encompassing a wide range of areas including milking technology and records analysis.
  • Proactive approach to business, demonstrating an ability to enhance efficiency and provide valuable presentations to stakeholders.
