Farm Projects

Four new Lely A5 Astronauts and one Juno have been up and running since February 2022 in Pewamo-Westphalia. These were the first Lely robots installed in this area. Matt and Kristi Keilen of Once Upon A Dairy are 4th generation dairy producers. The dairy was first a double 6 that they then remodeled to a double 10 before deciding to switch to robots. We are excited to help guide them with their adaptation to dairy automation.
The Carmichael family of Reed City completed of their new calf facility in November of 2021. The project featured a new barn with two Lely Automated Calf Feeders. The family is excited moving from calf hutches to automatic feeders allowing them more flexibility along with labor savings.
Willow Creek Dairy was able to start up their 2 Lely A5 Astronauts in August 2021. Having worked with the Ferwerda family for over 30 years, we are excited to help guide them with their journey of automated milking.
Sparks Quaker Acres started up 5 A5 Astronauts in Fremont in April 2021. The farm will milk 300 cows on the robots and continue to milk ~150 cows through the parlor. All of farms calves are raised on a Lely Calm calf feeder, which helped with a smooth transition to robotic milking. We are grateful for the opportunity to continue to work with the Sparks family and excited to see where automation takes their dairy!
We had the opportunity to start up two used Lely A4 Astronauts at LaDine Dairy Farm in February 2021. Along with the Astronauts, LaDine Dairy also utilizes the Lely Juno feed pusher and the Calm calf feeder. This is a true example of how the Lely suite of products allows the dairy to paint their barn red.
Two new Lely A5 Astronauts started up at Twelve Oaks Farm at the end of May 2020. Twelve Oaks focuses on producing organic, grass fed milk to be used for dairy products. The farm has currently been milking on two A4 Astronauts; due to the high demand for their product, the dairy decided to expand. We are grateful for the opportunity to continue to work with Twelve Oaks and knowing that they believe Lely is the way to dairy!
Four new Lely A5 Astronauts
Throughout the month of March 2020, we were able to install the four new Lely A5 Astronauts at Westvale-view Dairy Farm and MOO-ville Creamery for the Westendorp family. The process took three weeks to complete. An existing A4 would be removed, a new A5 would be set, the robot would be put into operation and milking would begin before removing the next robot to not disrupt the continuous milk production. We are happy the Westendorp’s continued to be part of the Lely family and are excited to see where the A5’s take their dairy!
